Trails are currently closed except for scheduled programs. View our calendar for upcoming events.

Trails will re-open May 1.

May 1 through November 1 (including holidays)
Hours 9:30 a.m.- 4:30 p.m. (Last admission to trails at 3:30 p.m.)

Plan to spend 3-4 hours to explore everything. Spend the day enjoying one or more of our self-guided trails plus Kirkwood Gardens. Explore the Gephart Exhibit Trail with live, native New Hampshire wildlife in natural woodland enclosures and hands-on interactive exhibits. You will meet bobcats, moutain lions, black bears, river otters, raptors, and more along this easy-to-navigate, walk in the woods.

Trail admission covers all trails. Hike the Mt. Fayal trail, which takes you to the summit to see breathtaking views of Squam Lake. The Ecotone Trail is a short hike along a forest and field boundary. The Forest Trail is a walk through a forest managed for wood and wildlife.

Kirkwood Gardens features colorful plants in full bloom. This informal garden is full of life, naturally attracting birds and butterflies. Kirkwood Gardens is available for small weddings and private functions that do not require the use of a tent.

There is no charge to visit Kirkwood Gardens, but there is no access to the Gephart Exhibit Trail from Kirkwood Gardens.

For the safety of our animals and yours, no pets are allowed on this property except service animals.

The Science Center is a smoke-free property. Please no idling vehicles.

To add more adventure to your day, make reservations for a Science Center Lake Cruise, available mid-May through mid-October.
