Project OspreyTrack: Juvenile Osprey Migration Map

Thanks to Movebank.org, we are now able to present data in an interactive format. The map below shows the current locations of eight juvenile Ospreys. The map automatically updates itself as new data are received from the satellites. You can click on each colored line or dot to identify each bird, then zoom in to see habitat details along the birds' paths or use the calendar icon at the top of the map to select different dates. In addition to Artoo, Bergen and Weber (all tagged in New Hampshire in 2013), you can follow Captain Liz (a female tagged on Martha’s Vineyard in 2013), Caleb (a male tagged on Martha’s Vineyard in 2013), Whit (a male tagged in Gloucester, MA in 2013), Pierce (a male tagged in Essex, MA in 2013), and Pearl (a female tagged on Long Island in 2013).

This is by far one the best not so hidden gems of Central New Hampshire! While it functions similarly to a zoo the goal of the facility is to rehabilitate and care for local animals found in the white mountains fo NH. The animals who stay are there for medical or other legitimate reasons to keep them from living in the wild and are given wonderful care. The staff that works there is knowledgable and kind, eager to answer any questions about the animals you may have. The path to see all the animals is fun and equivalent to many easy day hikes with spots to picnic, and a wonderful play/learning area for the young and young at heart. It is a place my family loves to visit time and time again, never getting board of the wonderful animals, new things to learn, and great day that always ensues.

Beautiful day at SLNSC! Loved the new zip swing and Raptor Exibit! The otters were adorable as usual and the deer were as friendly as ever! 😀

Absolutely exceptional place to go. I've been to other nature centers in Maine and New Hampshire and love this the most. The enclosures were well taken care of and the employees cared very much for the animals. The raptors were very well taken care of and the place was not run down like some other places. A lot of my family went of all different ages and every one of them was captivated by the beautiful animals. A very natural Scenic setting and much education. Check out some of the photos.

Always a great way to spend the day with the kids. They never get bored even after several trips, the love the interactive stations throughout the place, and the playground and zipline are a favorite. The giant insects were very cool to see as well. Well worth the membership!

We went for the nature walk and the kids really enjoyed it :) lot's of animals to see and fun things to do along the way. Worth the trip!
